Plans and Information

This has been our home for 16 years and we have loved every minute of it. For several years our daughter and grandchildren lived in the cottage and we lived in the barn. But they returned to England. We've stayed on, living in one house in the summer and the other in the winter. In the summer we let the converted barn for holiday lets and have proven income. But the time has come for us to downsize and retire.

Le Grand Bost is a rural hamlet on a no through road - there are five properties in the hamlet. The hamlet is in the commune of Montazeau, a small village with a small restaurant and no shops. The Montazeau community are friendly and welcoming and enjoy many social events in the village hall - and probably the best summer party in the area!

The location is superb with only the neighbours passing our property. It is quiet and relaxing and yet only 10 minutes from a village with all the shops you could want - butcher, baker, general stores, garage, hairdresser, restaurant - and a doctor.

We bought the property late in 1999 and completed the purchase on 2nd January 2000. At that time there was just the cottage with a large barn alongside. Our first task was to bring the cottage up to more modern standards. We had it rewired. We installed central heating. And we decorated it. Other than those things it was fine. Since then the roof has been redone.

In 2002 we began to restore the barn to create a second dwelling. We used a French architect and all French artisans. The result was, and still is, a beautifully restored barn with original features, oak beams and stone walls, but offering modern-day amentities and style. It is superb.

The following pages detail in words and pictures the two properties. We have many more pictures we can send to you should you be interested.
